November 2018: Fun things to do with kids in Thunder Bay

November is that in-between time of year, but there are still quite a number of family-friendly activities going on in Thunder Bay. What’s your jam: the Santa Claus parade, live theatre, a rock and mineral show? Read all to get all the details.

 

Starting November 6

 

Gifts of the North, Thunder Bay Museum

If your kiddos are into small, creative scenes, stop by the Thunder Bay Museum to see the work of local artist Janet MacDonald-Hannam, who has created detailed little figures in northwestern scenes. (Albert the Albertosaurus is still in residence at the museum too!) Admission required; free on Tuesdays.

November 8-11

 

Thunder Bay Rock, Gem & Mineral Show, Moose Hall

There’s something about kids and sparkly, colourful rocks, gems and minerals! Free admission. Thursday-Saturday 10am-8pm, Sunday 10am-5pm.

November 15-17 and 22-24

 

Newsies, Paramount Theatre

Paramount Live presents the full-length Disney Broadway musical Newsies, which tells a true story about the power of young people. 7pm, tickets required.

November 17

 

28th Annual Rotary Santa Claus Parade, Memorial Ave.

For a lot of TBay families, the Santa Claus Parade kicks off the holidays. Wave to the local floats, walkers and the big guy himself. The parade starts at 10am and goes from Memorial to the Auditorium.

A Charlie Brown Christmas Live Onstage, Thunder Bay Community Auditorium

The holiday classic gets a new twist, with live actors playing Linus, Lucy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang. 2:30pm and 7pm, tickets required.

November 17-18

 

Clifford the Big Red Dog Party, Toy Sense

Stop by to visit Clifford and wear your favourite Clifford-themed costume or lots of red. On the Saturday event, you might even see Frosty and Rudolph after the parade too! 11am-3pm on Saturday and 12-4pm on Sunday, free.

Jingle All the Way Family Singalong, Sherbrooke Public School

Get ready to belt out your favourites! Miss Susan of Susan’s Kindermusik of Thunder Bay is hosting a singalong 2pm, tickets by donation in support of Precious Bundles Children’s Clothing Assistance.

The Enchanted Bookshop, Thunder Bay Community Auditorium

Eleanor Drury Children’s Theatre presents “The Enchanted Bookshop” that combines the magic of live theatre with a love of reading. 7pm, tickets required.

Les Mis, Thunder Bay Community Auditorium

More than 30 local youth actors from All the DAZE are tackling the epic musical. 7pm, tickets required.

Local theatre kids present an opening act of the Aesop fable of the tortoise and the hare, followed by the classic Cinderella. 7pm, tickets required.
