April 2017: Things to do with kids in Thunder Bay

It’s that in-between time of year…the end of snow forts, but the parks aren't quite play-ready yet. Fortunately there are a number of fun kid-friendly events in Thunder Bay in April, from ski hill shenanigans to breakfast with the Easter Bunny. (It really is all about the Bunny this month, isn’t it?) Here’s the lineup:

March 31, April 1 Disney's Mulan Jr., Confederation College

Mulan performed by 7- to 11-year-olds in the All the Daze program: wow! A cool way to introduce kids to live musical theatre.

April 1

Dummy Downhill, Loch Lomond

The goofily creative annual event is back, where you can watch dummies get launched off The Giant ski run at Loch Lomond Ski Area. The dummies have to be between two and six feet high and be mounted on skis, and past designs have included a Minion and Sponge Bob Square Pants. What better way to celebrate the fun of April Fool’s Day?

April 1, 8 and 15

Meet the Bunnies, Toy Sense

Little ones will get a kick out of meeting a fuzzy Easter Bunny character at Toy Sense. On April 15, the Easter Bunny is joined by another sweet character, a Calico Critters rabbit. Think of the photo ops. Awww…

April 9

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Moose Hall

For more than 20 years, TBay kids have enjoyed breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Get in on the tradition and buy your tickets for the event, hosted by the Fort City Kinettes.

April 14

9th Annual Egg Hunt, Frank Charry Park

Eggs, candy, the thrill of the hunt and a picture with the Easter Bunny…this free egg hunt hosted by the Hillcity Kinsmen is another family fave.

April 15

Easter Festival & Egg Hunt, Gammondale Farm

Grab your Easter basket and take a country drive to Gammondale Farm’s annual festival to help the Easter bunny find all the eggs listed on a game card. Other activities include an Easter slingshot game, a scavenger hunt, draft horse rides, egg decorating, visiting farm animals and a jelly bean count.

April 21

FUNtastic Friday, St. Paul’s Anglican Church

For some low-key Friday night family time, stop by St. Paul’s for a free homestyle dinner along with stories, crafts and songs.
