February 2

The Green House, Centennial Conservatory

Catch some tunes surrounded by lush tropical foliage at this music event hosted by local DJs. 12-4pm, free.

Lego events, Chapters

Get your build on, trade minifigs, get stickers and activity sheets and more with a three-pack of Lego-themed events. 11 am, free.

Winter FunDay, Marina Park

It’s Thunderwolves Day today so get ready to have some fun with the team. There will also be indoor activities at the Baggage Building Arts Centre. 2-4pm, free.

Movie Night, North End Community Centre

Come in your jammies to watch Smallfoot on the big screen. Doors open at 6pm, the show starts at 6:45 and the canteen will be open.

February 9

Boreal Forest Wintertime Open House, Kingfisher

Go play in the snow! Kingfisher Lake Outdoor Education Centre is offering free ski and snowshoe equipment and instruction as well as a bonfire with free hot chocolate and hot dogs. 9am-4pm. Shuttles available.

February 10

SnowDay, Marina Park

Meet the folks from the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre and cook bannock on a stick over the fire. Warm up with activities at the Baggage Building Arts Centre too.

February 17

2019 NHL Alumni Tour, Fort William Gardens

See some great hockey (yep, former NHL players) and support local charities too. 2pm, admission required. Plus there’s a free meet and greet with the players at Wackys at 4:30.

Winter FunDay, Marina Park

It’s a “Harry Potter in the winter” treasure hunt, hosted by Willow Springs! 2-4pm, free. There is also a free create-a-comic book activity indoors at the Baggage Building Arts Centre from 1-3pm.

February 18 [Family Day]

FamJam 2019, CLE Coliseum

This annual Family Day event is rocking with balloon animals, music, bouncy castles, face painting, crafts and more in support of local charities. 11am-4pm, admission required.

Tapiola Family Ski Day, Tapiola Sports Park

Family skiing, snowshoeing, snowpainting, a bonfire, snowball prize game, kicksledding and good eats are waiting for you at Tapiola. 12-3pm, free (with small fees for some activities).

SnowDay, Marina Park

Named one of the top 100 festivals and events in Ontario, SnowDay features way-cool professional snow sculptures as well as a variety of family activities including skating, snow-carving and traditional winter games. 1-5pm, free. (The dog-sledding FunDay from late January has been rescheduled to this date too.)

February 23

Science Carnival, Victoriaville Mall

Hosted by Science North Thunder Bay, this event has all kinds of cool science and tech activities plus a chance to handle live insects. 1-5pm, free. More info Science North on Facebook

Family Winter Landscape Painting, Rosslyn Library

Paint a beautiful winter scene with the kids on your very own canvas at these drop-in workshops hosted by Judy Mayer and CAHEP. 1pm and 2pm, free.

February 24

Winter FunDay, Marina Park

We’re always up for some cabane à sucre (maple syrup on fresh snow). Taste the sweet treat at this event hosted by Club culturel francophone de Thunder Bay. 2-4pm, free. From 1-3pm, try your hand at a free comic book activity hosted by CAHEP at the Baggage Building Arts Centre.

73rd Annual Winter Carnival, Oliver Road Community Centre

There’s a spaghetti dinner on Saturday night, followed by draws, competitions and activities for kids and grownups on Sunday from noon to 5pm.
