Top 3 kid-friendly menu items

1. chicken fingers and fries

2. fish and chips

3. grilled cheese and fries

What’s for the grownups? The restaurant has a decent selection of beer, wine, cider and coolers.

What’s the vibe? Friendly diner—that classic thick white dishware and a few vintage photos of the street back in the day are nice touches. The whole place got a coat of paint plus a new ceiling and flooring, and you can now eat at the counter.

Known for Open as the Salsbury Grill in Westfort since 1964, “The Sal” now has a new owner, revamped décor and some new menu items like fish tacos and the Calgary burger (onion rings, cheddar, chipotle aioli) to complement the standard breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, fries and nips (most of which comes with that famous salty-but-yummy housemade gravy).

Bonus points for Friendly wait staff. All-day breakfast. The $6 kids menu items come with a drink and a biiiiig cup of chocolate or vanilla ice cream, topped with caramel, chocolate sauce or whipped cream.

Kids' menu? Yes

Are there crayons at the table? Yes, if you remind the server.
